Alpha Delta Pi is proud to support, and work for, the Ronald McDonald House as its national philanthropy.

The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home for families who have terminally ill children.  Located near major hospitals, these homes charge little to no rent, and allow parents a warm, comforting place to stay while their child undergoes treatment.

Fred Hill, a player for the Eagles, opened the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Hill’s daughter Kim was diagnosed with leukemia, and treated at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  After realizing that very few hospitals provided sufficient accommodations for families, Hill enlisted the help of his teammates, and Ronald McDonald Charities, and renovated the very first Ronald McDonald House.

Today, over 10 million families have called the Ronald McDonald House a “home away from home.”  Also, these families have saved over $120 million in housing and rental costs.

There are currently 212 Ronald McDonald houses in 20 countries.  These homes are supported by more than 25,000 volunteers, who donate over one million hours of their time annually.

Gamma Gamma chapter of ADPi holds numerous philanthropic events for the Ronald McDonald house.  In addition to donating money, the sisters hold an annual Fall and Spring cleaning at the local houses, giving the families a day to themselves, without any chores.

Also, throughout the year recruitment events are held to create gifts and toys for the children who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

"A sister knows all about you, but loves you anyway."
